These are our Kindergarten picks for the upcoming studies. I’ve got a feast to be laid out for my daughter but I don’t think we’ll get to as much as I’ve planned and that’s ok. Plenty of family styled learning to include my toddler in on the fun, family style learning and the ideal of the one room schoolhouse are my favorite ways to learn!

I have a lot planned but don’t expect everything to get done. That’s the beauty of homeschooling, that it’s flexible.

Our core curriculum will be The Playful Pioneers by The Peaceful Press. I enjoy learning and talking about history so this seemed like a great choice for us. I had used The Peaceful Preschool previously and knew this company was Christ and family centered and had tons of books that we enjoyed.
Our Main Chapter Book Read Alouds will be the Little House series as well as some of the American Girl series I added in American Girl History for fun because we’d be studying those times. We’ll be starting with Kaya in the American girls series .
Of course plenty of Picture Books daily and possibly more Read Alouds depending on how much we get through. But the key is to have fun while learning in a few different ways. I plan to always keep reading picture books no matter how old my children get it’s a really important thing to do.

In the Early Years we focus on Nature Study more than any Sciences. We’ll be going through Exploring Nature With Children, we’ve used it before and loved it!!

For Math I decided on The Good And The Beautiful Math K. I saw it in person and liked it. They offer it free to print out yourself as well as language arts which is so helpful when you’re on a tight budget. I also plan on continuing messy maths to encourage a playfulness when it comes to this subject.

For Language Arts and Learning to Read we’re continuing Dash into Reading and starting 100 Gentle Lessons In Sight and Sound. Handwriting will be using Handwriting Without Tears, Kick Start your Kindergarten and continuing our Explode The Code books for extra phonics practice. We’ll plan on Oral Narration note booking too with some light copy work.

Morning Time includes Bible time. We’ll use Playful Pioneers and Ambleside Online Hymns and Folk Songs. Our morning menus have a variety of things in them (I’m actually making a few things for them) and have found great printables created by friends. For the Bible time I’ll be reading straight from my Bible along with the Children’s Bible we love then our devotional which will be this year The Ology.
Poetry Tea Time is a must for us and we do it weekly this includes a homemade dish, Poetry and Art study.

Foreign Language we’ll be using my old study textbooks Genki for Japanese and my husband will of course teach his native language to them.
I hope you enjoyed seeing our picks!
